Tampa, FL— Seeking input on how state government can more efficiently meet citizens’ needs, State Senator Victor Crist (R-Tampa) will join residents throughout Hillsborough and Pasco Counties next week for two open-forum style town hall meetings. The first meeting will be co-hosted by State Representative Kevin Ambler (R-Tampa). Prepared to address hot-button topics such as economic development, public safety, health care and transportation, Crist announced the meetings today as the final two in a series of informal gatherings that he has organized this year to give residents the chance to discuss issues and share ideas with their elected officials.
“Town hall meetings are a great opportunity for local residents to openly examine the issues and challenges facing their community”, explained Senator Victor Crist, “we’ll be leaving the discussions open so that everyone has a chance to participate”. Senator Crist also noted that the meetings will not adjourn until all in attendance have had a chance to speak.
When asked about the impact of town hall meetings on the priorities of state officials, Representative Ambler added, “Our constituents are making tough decisions in their daily lives due to the current economic climate, and hearing directly from them enhances our ability to advocate on their behalf, and it ensures that our priorities address their needs”.
For planning purposes, those planning to attend are encouraged—but not required—to contact Jennifer Wilson by email at Wilson.jennifer.S12@flsenate.gov, or by telephone at 813-975-6658.
Senator Victor Crist is serving his eighteenth and final year in the Florida Legislature, is chairman of the Senate Criminal & Civil Justice Appropriations Committee, and the Chair of the Hillsborough County Legislative Delegation.
