This bill will enhance protection of our families, communities, and children by enacting laws which restrict sexual offenders and predators from visiting facilities or areas that are designated for the use or recreation of children—areas such as playgrounds, parks, and day care centers—unless they have a good reason to be there.
Specifically, SB 1284 places a requirement that these offenders may not be knowingly present in any area that is within 300 feet of these areas or facilities. In addition, this bill will place a statewide proximity limitation which will prevent sexual offenders in Florida from living within 1750 feet of a place designated for the use of children.
